A thesis statement shows what the topic of your essay is going to be on. Say you were writing it on the symbols that appear in the book. Your thesis statement would be: The symbols shown is Of Mice and Men are George and Lennie’s Farm, Lennie’s Puppy, and Candy’s dog. Then you would write a paragraph on each and add a conclusion paragraph. Just to sum it up a thesis statement pretty much sums up what your essay is going to be about.

The characters in this book “Of Mice and Men” by … shows that the individual man can sometimes be overtaken by whats around him and not what truly in him.

note have never read book, but will go something like that, in my opinion i find that a thesis is the last sentence of the first paragraph that tells the reader what the rest of the essay will be about, or around.

Several characters in Steinbeck’s novel “Of Mice and Men” are oppressed by others, including Curley’s Wife (who isn’t even given a name), Crooks, and Lennie.

A thesis statement is basically the main idea.
Ex. I’m writing a paper about my friends party so, my thesis statement is: Katie’s party was fun and exciting.
Remember, the thesis is the last sentence in the introduction paragraph.
